Din acest motiv, pentru a gasi filme cu adevarat inteligente si placute marca Holywood, din care sa nu transpara eternul refren “sex, alcool si razboi”, este nevoie de o mica incursiune in timp. Asa ca recomandarea mea se opreste la “Tender Mercies”, un film foarte delicat si sincer de la inceputul anilor ’80, cu Rober Duvall interpretand exceptional rolul unei foste vedete a muzicii country, ajunsa la faliment moral si financiar.
Spre deosebire de povestea tipic moderna in care eroul incepe sa arunce resposabilitatea esecului pe umerii tuturor celorlalti, mai putin ai sai, in “Tender Mercies” personajul principal nu are o relatie prea blanda cu sine. Salvarea sa survine in primul rand din constientizarea trecutului si din asumarea unei schimbari totale de perspectiva asupra vietii, ilustrata in film printr-un moment al botezului. “I don’t trust happiness. I never did and I never will”, spune la un moment dat personajul interpretat de Robert Duvall. Stralucirea starului country, adulatia publicului, contractele fabuloase (practic toata scara de valori moderna) sunt inlocuite de o viata cuminte si asezata la tara, in mijlocul unei familii deloc instarite, dar cu o caldura sufleteasca inimaginabila pentru un om de azi. Filmul reuseste sa redea admirabil acele momente de tandrete si bucurie in mijlocul unei comunitati de oameni simpli, din care fosta vedeta pare ca nu a lipsit niciodata. In alta ordine de idei, “Tender Mercies” poate servi si ca o buna introducere in cultura Sudului Statelor Unite ale Americii, identificabila in imaginarul ultra modern doar ca “rednecks” si rasism. Ca bonus, filmul beneficiaza de o coloana sonora superba din care se detaseaza doua melodii interpretate chiar de Robert Duvall. |




In ultimii ani Holywood-ul a produs foarte putine filme bune, in pofida (sau din cauza) investitiilor foarte mari si a incasarilor fabuloase ale unor succese de casa. Bineinteles ca excelenta cinematografica nu se masoara astazi in numarul de spectatori si nici nu cred ca s-a facut vreodata.
