Povestea umanitarismului stiintific e veche si a fost rezumata remarcabil de un profesor american uitat pe nedrept, care a distins exemplar intre varianta romantica si cea a tehno a modernitatii, in fond doua fete ale aceluiasi demon: “if the Rousseauist set up an ideal of universal brotherhood that led actually to universal conscription, the utilitarian for his part has put prime emphasis on material organization and efficiency and so, an enormous mass of interlocking machinery which has, in theory, to serve humanity and promote the greatest number, but has in practice been presed into the service of the will to power of individuals and social groups and nationalities.” (Irving Babbitt – Democracy and Leadership) |
