In Egipt, dupa plecarea regimului Mubarak, violentele impotriva coptilor s-au intensificat. In octombrie, 24 de crestini ce protestau pasnic au fost omorati de politia din Cairo, iar alti 250, dintr-un total de 322, au fost raniti. Martori independenti au declarat ca fortele de ordine au tras in multime si au intrat cu masinile peste demonstranti. Ulterior, televiziunea egipteana a difuzat mai multe mesaje prin care a solicitat locuitorilor onesti din capitala sa apere politia de crestini. In martie 2011, in orasul Sole, o biserica crestina este incendiata, iar mai multi copti parasasesc orasul din cauza fricii. Anul trecut, in mai, in timpul unui mars al crestinilor are loc un atac in urma caruia un participant este ucis. Potrivit unui raport al organizatiei Open Doors, 75% dintre crestinii care traiau in Libia au parasit tara, dupa plecarea de la putere a lui Moammar Gaddafi. Guvernul instuarat in Tunisia, in prima revolutia araba, a promis toleranta religioasa, insa de la schimbarea de regim mai multe biserici au fost transformate in moschei. In Siria, de la inceputul protestelor, aproximativ 100 de crestini au fost omorati, in special de fortele antiguvernamentale. Regimul Assad a oferit o libertate religioasa considerabila crestinilor care repezinta aproximativ 10% din populatia tarii, insa aceasta directie are consecinte nefaste acum, cand acestia sunt vazuti drept sustinatori ai guvernului. “Ceea ce vedem acum in Siria este o campanie deliberata si calculata de a inlocui guvernul Assad cu un regim mult mai compatibil cu interesele SUA in zona….Nu este prima oara cand asistam la o alianta stransa intre neoconii americani si islamisti lucrand impreuna pentru a produce o schimbare de regim intr-un “stat dusman””. Aproximativ 800.000 de crestini traiau in Irak inainte de interventia americana din 2003. Astazi numarul lor a scazut sub jumatate. Atacurile asupra lor au devenit frecvente, iar viata in fosta colonie britanica este saraca, urata, dura si scurta. Un singur atac, in octombrie 2010, asupra unei biserici din Bagdad a rezultat in 58 de morti. Practic, jumatate din cei care reusesc sa fuga din Irak sunt crestini, iar premisele pentru disparitia unei comunitati cu o vechime de 2000 de ani sunt solide.
