Pentru multa lume, un asemenea fenomen tine de o resuresctie a Evului Mediu, o barbarie vetusta, demna de dispret, mai ales ca traim in atmosfera pozitivismului stiintific. Explicatia, insa, nu e foarte complicata pentru cine arunca o privire, chiar si fugara, in trecutul relatiei dintre vrajitorie si puterea politica. Probabil cel mai elocvent exemplu il constituie Giordano Bruno, martirul de serviciu al anticatolicilor. In “De vinculis in genere”, el propune primul tratat de manipulare a oamenilor. Iata cum descrie opera Ioan Petru Culianu in “Eros si magie in Renastere”: “este totusi scrierea ce ar merita astazi adevaratul si unicul loc de onoare intre teoriile manipularii maselor…dupa cunostinta noastra n-a existat nici inainte de Bruno si nici dupa el vreaun autor care sa fi tratat aceasta materie sub aspectu-i empiric, facand abstractie de orice consideratie de ordin etic, religios ori social. Caci nimeni nu s-ar fi gandit sa abordeze un astfel de subiect din punctul de vedere al manipulatorului insusi, fara sa puna mai intai, ca principiu fundamental al cercetarii sale, vreun drept divin sau uman intangibil in numele caruia manipularea sa fi fost condamnata”. Ceea ce incerca sa faca Bruno era transcrierea unei retete pentru atasarea nu doar a unui individ, ci a mase intregi de oameni, prin diverse tehnici oculte, lasand la o parte orice idei morale. Un alt practician devotat si oarecum celebru al magiei politice a fost si John Dee, consultant esoteric pentru mai toate familiile de seama ale Europei din secolul XVI. Cariera si-a inceput-o in Anglia sub Eduard al VI-lea, a continuat cu succes sub Maria Tudor, careia i-a facut horoscopul, si a cunoscut apogeul sub Elisabeta I, care i-a cerut sa-i aleaga ziua pentru incoronare. Printre clientii sai s-au mai aflat Maximilian al II-lea, regele Boemiei si Ungariei, si regele Stefan, care a luat-o la fuga dupa ce l-a vazut pe John Dee intr-o sedinta de spiritism. A fost un avocat al formarii unui Imperiu Britanic prin expansiune teritoriala si, la fel ca globalistii din toate timpurile, dorea o unificare religioasa a lumii. Ideea ar fi ca puterea corupe nu doar in sensul minimalist al profitului material imediat, ci si in sensul unei tentatii permanente spre autodeificare, implicita, de altfel, in New Age, cu o influenta deloc neglijabila in prezent. Chiar daca majoritatea competitorilor politici doresc in special obtinerea sau consolidarea unui post, apelul lor tradeaza o credinta relativ solida in puterile vazduhului. Si daca metoda da roade, in final obiectivul ramane unul singur. Nu trebuie uitat nicidecum ca razboiul nevazut nu se duce intre stiinta si religie, iar resurectia pe scara larga a vrajitorilor nu reprezinta infrangerea stiintei, ci triumful ei si al paganismului. Pentru ca stiinta si vrajitoria (si politica, dupa Machiavelli) au un punct comun solid: ignorarea moralei. Conteaza doar atingerea scopurilor, iar pentru asta orice mijloc (ocult, politic, stiintific) poate fi folosit. „Ades ai beznei soli, ca sa ne piarda,/ Graiesc cinstit, ne mîna cu nimicuri/ Ducîndu-ne spre cel mai greu pacat...
