Situatia incepe sa semene partial cu ceea ce se intampla in Romania pe la inceputul anilor ’90 cand mesajul cheie pentru alegerea lui Ion Iliescu il reprezenta stabilitatea si evitarea razboiului. Celor mai sceptici li se raspundea la nesfarsit cu obositoarea replica: “Vreti sa ajungem ca-n Iugoslavia?”. Acum, se incearca promovarea UE ca un etalon de stabilitate (cu grecii, spaniolii si multi altii zilnic pe strazi in lupta cu politia) si prosperitate, cu toate ca indicatorii mai seci indica iminenta unui colaps economic. In fine, pentru a vedea cam care e orizontul de valori in care se misca Uniunea, sa ne amintim doar cateva dintre deciziile mai extravagante luate in ultimul an. Nu mai devreme de 25 septembrie, Parlamentul European a nominalizat la premiul pentru drepturile omului “Andrei Saharov” formatia fara cantece Pussy Riot. O bataie de joc la adresa firescului si a memoriei unui om care a luptat impotriva comunismului. Pe 23 ianuarie 2012, Consiliul Uniunii Europene a publicat un raport cu privire la programul nuclear iranian. Bineinteles ca toata hartogaria nu vorbea de altceva decat despre “ingrijorare”, “escaladarea tensiunii” si alte clisee sforaitoare din limba de lemn a umanitaristilor cu ghilotina. Concluzia deloc banala: inghetarea activelor detinute de banca centrala a Iranului si instituirea embargoului comercial pentru metale pretioase si petrochimicale catre si dinspre Persia. Ieri, UE a decis sa-si extinda sanctiunile asupra a 34 de entitati care asigura suport pentru guvernul de la Teheran. Consecinta acestei masuri o constituie saracirea iranienilor nevinovati si, probabil in multe cazuri, chiar moartea unora. Nu ar trebui sa fim prea mirati de aceste aberatii, dar nici prea pasivi. In fond, premiul Nobel pentru Pace are o istorie foarte colorata si doar prezenta unor nume ca Maica Tereza mai salveaza ceva din prestanta sa, desi cred ca ele sunt introduse doar pentru a oferi un pic de credibilitate. Pentru ca, atat timp cat pe listele castigatorilor gasesti nume ca Henry Kissinger, Dag Hjalmar Agne Carl Hammarskjöld, Teddy Roosevelt, Barack Obama si multi altii, te intrebi cum ar arata o lista a rusinii daca acestia sunt baietii buni.

Dupa ce anul trecut au facut boacana de a acorda premiul Nobel pentru pace lui Barack Obama care, ulterior, in semn de recunostinta, a trimis mai multe bombardiere pe capul libienilor pentru a instaura democratia, anul acesta, decidentii de la Oslo s-au gandit sa nu se lase mai prejos si au ales ceva absolut impersonal: Uniunea Europeana. Ce-i drept, continentul a cunoscut pacea pentru 70 de ani, dar nici un conflict nu a dat vreun semn ca incolteste si, mai mult, nu cred ca molohul etatist a avut vreun merit in aceasta poveste. Ba mai mult, daca e sa ascultam observatiile lui
